Now that one of my favourite surprise birthday gifts this year was secretly picked up from Portobello Markets, it holds a special place in my heart. We saved our visit for a Saturday; all the stalls are open and we got a great vibe right away with a band, Flyte, busking classic covers from the late 80's - I loved it! After reaching the end of the road we wandered through the less crowded streets and managed to take some snaps before it started raining. Here's the look I wore for a day spent on Portobello Road and around those candy-coloured houses in Notting Hill.
What I'm wearing: Topshop coat (similar here & here), J Brand jeans, Rita Ora x Superga sneakers, Céline bag.I only took one coat with me when I packed for this trip and this old Topshop one was it. It was warm enough to prepare myself for the London weather, was a neutral colour that would match with all my other pieces and had features like huge side pockets that my hands nestled in when I forgot my gloves (which I obviously forgot this day) and a hood for when it started raining and I hadn't brought an umbrella for the day. All in all, the kind of versatile pieces I like to pack to travel light...and, I'm not going to lie, to have more room for shopping! I didn't do too much of that here though, it was more about trying the delicious market food (I got in trouble from the lady making my delicious nutella crepe!?), the ambience (Flyte really set it for me) and those infamous pastel coloured houses. They're just so pretty!
