Cathay Pacific Business Class Review

I want to start this by humbling saying that I never thought I would ever, not anytime soon anyway, experience flying Business (or First) Class on my travels. I guess my immediate thoughts for booking flights have always been to save money on the journey and spend more at the destination. But boy have I been missing out!

Cathay Pacific Business Class Review

Cathay Pacific Business Class ReviewFor my trip from Melbourne to Hong Kong (and back again) it happened - I relished in all that Cathay Pacific's Business Class had to offer. Initially I didn't make the cut - asking the lady politely at check-in if it was "possible to get an upgrade?" and waiting a few minutes whilst she tapped on her keyboard only resulted to 1. the not so good news: Business Class was full, and 2. the good news: there was space for an upgrade to Premium Economy, which in the end put a smile on my face. (Always take the bad news before the good guys, because what shortly follows will outweigh it, in most situations anyway.)Moments before boarding started at the gates, my name was called on the microphone along with another gentleman's to see the desk. What followed after had me smiling from ear to ear... "Miss. Daquinag you've been upgaded to Business Class, please give me your old boarding pass."A highlight and great start to my Monday morning!Cathay Pacific Business Class ReviewSo, what's it like?Being a complete novice and feeling extremely out of place (I was surrounded by mostly older men in suits) strangley I felt right at home: sky high and snuggly under the covers. In that moment you kind of think to yourself how you ever flew anything else beforehand. The extra on top is definitely worth the special treatment, especially for super long-haul flights.

Cathay Pacific Business Class - Features

The Flat BedWith just a touch of a button I adjusted my seat from upright position to a flat bed. Now, I've never had an issue with falling asleep on planes but this was just next level comfiness, the first of the many features I experienced and loved on Cathay Pacific's Business Class. The flat bed measures just over two metres long and the bed extension increases its width to give you that extra room. Pillow and a thick doona is also included, it had me like sleeping on clouds.Inflight Amenity KitShortly after settling in with my bags I was given an amenity kit with travel sized skincare products from Jurlique that come in handy when flying high: Natural Lip Care Balm, Balancing Day Care Cream and Citrus Hand Cream, as well as anti-skid socks, eyeshade, toothbrush, toothpaste, earplugs and a monitor-cleaning cloth. The FoodChampagne on arrival, tick. Options for hot or cold breakfasts', tick. Entrée, main and dessert for dinner, tick. Maggie Beer ice cream, tick. No complaints there!Inflight EntertainmentThere's a 15-inch TV that pops out with plenty of inflight entertainment. I didn't watch any movies though, instead I fell asleep on the flat bed whilst listening to Vance Joy's debut album on repeat through the noise-cancelling headsets. On the way back Red Eye seemed befitting. You know what they say - there's a first time for everything. And this was one to definitely remember. What's a first that you've experienced recently? I'd love to hear in the comments below!Read more: Turning my travel dreams into reality The Love Assembly Travel and Style Blog was welcomed to fly with Cathay Pacific Airlines as a guest.
