5 Inspiring Books To Read That Will Fuel Your Entrepreneurial Drive

I don't know about you but I've always found it interesting to know what drives someone to their success and their different forms of inspiration, particulary what books they read. I thought I'd start off the week with five to put on your must-read list, if you haven't already done so. These are the books that have been the biggest influence for me - some more recent than others - but equally inspiring and motivating to fuel your entrepreneurial drive, focus on your goals, boost knowledge and keep hustling. If you're looking for your next inspiring book to read, take your pick:It's Not How Good You Are, It's How Good You Want To Be by Paul Arden

1. It's Not How Good You Are, It's How Good You Want To Be

by Paul ArdenThey say to never judge a book by its cover but to be honest, the cover in all its minimal glory and title in itself was what made me purchase this book many years ago. It's a quirky compilation of quotes, facts, pictures, wit and wisdom as bite-sized spreads - a pocketbook to help make the unthinkable thinkable and the impossible possible. I also have another one of Paul Arden's other books Whatever you think, think the opposite. That got me purely because I think way too much haha!Show You Work by Austin Kleon

2. Show Your Work!

by Austin KleonWhen you run a blog featuring your work like myself, you may feel a little uncomfortable with self-promotion. I can admit that in the beginning I felt kind of strange and somewhat narcissistic but, I knew (coming from a PR and marketing background) that promotion is vital in moving forward with your work, and when you choose to do your own work you need to self-promote. Show Your Work! is perfect for this. Austin shares ways to think about your work as a never-ending process, how to build an audience by sharing that process, and how to deal with the ups and downs of putting yourself and your work out in the world. The 4 Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss

3. The 4-Hour Work Week

by Tim FerrisThis book changed my life. Tim Ferriss changed my perception of life. It was one of the very first books I got my hands on when I quit my full-time 9-5 job and chose to go out into the entrepreneurial online world. Tim teaches you how to escape the 9-5, live anywhere, and join the new rich. I bought it for a special someone many many years ago who introduced me to it, but ended up pinching it back (without them knowing) and finishing it in under a handful of days. An oldie, but definitely a goodie.#GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso

by Sophia AmorusoAny book that shares behind-the-scenes stories, tips and learnings behind a successful creative business always intrigues me, and #GIRLBOSS leads the pack. In our ever evolving digital world there's been so much opporunity for anyone to build an online brand and business, and become a success (with a lot of hard work and dedication of course). Sophia started selling vintage clothes on eBay and eight years later, she is the founder, CEO, and creative director of Nasty Gal, a $100 million plus online fashion retailer, now with brick-and-mortar stores too. She shares her unique path to success, cunning and frank observations, and behind-the-scenes stories from Nasty Gal’s rise. A bookshelf must.#GIRLBOSS available here. The Element by Ken Robinson

5. The Element: How Finding Your Passion Changes Everything

by Ken RobinsonKen Robinson talks about The Element being the point at which natural talent meets personal passion. I received this book when I was trying to figure out mine and watched one of his TED talks that really resonated with me. He says 'When people arrive at the Element, they feel most themselves, most inspired and achieve at their highest levels.' He draws on the stories of a wide range of artists, scientists, athletes, business leaders, academics, and many others. A good read if you feel a little lost or need some direction with finding your passion in life.Do you have any suggestions for inspiring books to read? Leave a comment below - I'd love to know!
