1. Market Lane

Each venue is different, and with four scattered around Melbourne it’s easy to understand why you’ll see their motto “We love to make coffee for the city that loves to drink it,” on cups all over town. Their markedly smooth roasts are self-justifying and the baristas are thoughtful and as helpful as can be (as well as markedly unpretentious).109-111 Therry Street, Melbourne 3000

2. Padre Coffee

They have the greatest tasting coffee I have yet had the pleasure to caffeinate with. I can’t even tell you about the interiors of their cafes, because it doesn’t matter when the coffee tastes this good. They have multiple locations though, so grab a cuppa while perusing Queen Victoria Markets or enjoy hanging out in their hip Brunswick location, the Brunswick East Project. Their CBD location on Exploration Lane offers Doughboy’s Doughnuts on certain days of the week too, if you’re peckish for a sweet treat with your cuppa.9 Church Street, Brunswick 3056

3. Wide Open Road

You can find their beans at other favourite cafes around Melbourne such as the lovely Small Victories on Rathdowne Street. The large venue is matched by an enticing menu offering both breakfast and lunch options, with a grown-up drinks section for when a latte can’t solve the problems of adulthood. This is another larger venue that is welcoming to both the lone coffee addict as well as groups, big, bright and airy!274 Barkly Street, Brunswick 3056

4. Industry Beans

Just far enough from the din of the main streets in Fitzroy, where the buzz of eccentricity is softened by cyclists and a quaint neighbourhood, sits Industry Beans. The set-up suits those looking just to grab a bag of Industry beans, or an afternoon working on a laptop, or a catch-up brunch with friends. Spacious and welcoming, with plenty of natural light the cafe is home to some of the best baristas in town and a favorite of locals.Warehouse 3, 62 Rose Street, Fitzroy 3065
