Travel to the Philippines - La Union

La Union, A Weekend Escape

La Union is the weekend escape for ones who love to dance with the ocean – it’s the nearest surf spot from metro Manila in The Philippines and is about a 5-6 hour drive – or 1 hour drive from the mountains (Baguio) – and an escape from the big buildings, hustle and bustle of the city life and traffic (oh the horrible traffic!) of Manila.

I met some lovely friends – both old and new – when I traveled here for the first time to stay for a weekend. It’s a different vibe, the kind that’s fuss-free, really chilled and full of blue skies, friendly faces and people with only one thing on their mind: catching those waves!

I’ve never been, but your pictures make me want to visit! The sunsets remind me of the beautiful ones I saw in Goa.

Thanks for your comment and kind words Taylor – I think you would love it in La Union. I would love to go back to India and visit Goa! Ax

  • Just wondering where did you stay in san juan la union?:)

    • TheLoveAssembly

Everything was fully booked actually! It was a last minute trip from Baguio and we had no accommodation when we arrived – we had to walk up and down the main street on a super hot day asking each place if they had a spare room!

We got lucky at Fatwave resort which is in between San Juan surf resort (http://bit.ly/1n2zi1t) – where I wanted to stay but apparently you need to book way in advance, and Flotsam & Jetsam, where I hung out majority of the time with friends there. Hope that helps! 🙂 Ax
